Elisabeth Ihlenfeld, LPC, relocated from Chicago to Phoenix in 2024, bringing a range of specializations to the Phoenix Therapists’ Hub, and commitment not only individuals and couples therapy but also to practitioner and community education.  Elisabeth’s approach is rooted in developmental neuropsychiatry, with a focus on attachment trauma, which allows her to focus on the core of affective and cognitive dysregulation that feature across the spectrum of DSM diagnostic categories. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is her foundation, but the integration of contemporary affect regulation theory—and focus on progress toward desired outcomes–enables her to effect change in a more rapid fashion than commonly associated with that practice.

Additionally certified in Advanced Trauma (CCTP-II), Integrative Medicine (CIMPH), and Personality Disorders (C-PD), Elisabeth has a profound understanding of how early relational trauma can manifest across the lifespan in the forms of affective, mood, personality, eating, and substance use disorders, as well as in a constellation of somatic issues, which exacerbate a person’s mental health prognosis. Because of this dual interest in the mind and bod, she is particularly keen to close the gap between psychotherapy and psychiatric and general medical care, and collaborate with other medical professionals to provide comprehensive, client-centered treatment.

Elisabeth’s work with couples centers on emotionally-focused and imago therapy, creating a roadmap for resolving relationship-specific challenges and fostering deeper connection.
